Displaying the Developer tab in Word 2007

Some more ‘advanced’ commands in Word 2007 (relating to macros, templates and other topics) have been assigned to buttons that you can only see if you activate the Developer tab, which is hidden by default when you first use Word.

To make the Developer tab visible, follow these steps:

  1. Click the button in the top left of your screen.
  2. In the drop-down menu select Word options at the bottom right.
  3. In the dialog box that appears look for a checkbox like this and click it.
  4. Click OK to close the dialog box.
  5. The Developer tab should now be visible on your Ribbon (to the right of the View tab).
